The problem

Small gaps that cost real time and money

01

The window closes quietly

Most major brands want registration within 60 days (Carrier: 90). Miss it and 10-year parts coverage can drop to 5.

02

Paperwork slips after the install

The tech is on to the next call, the office is on the phones, and the form never gets typed.

03

A failed part becomes your problem

A compressor part alone runs $500 to $2,000, and an unregistered unit is a harder conversation with the homeowner.

On most standard Trane, Lennox, Goodman and Rheem lines, a unit not registered within 60 days gets 5 years of parts coverage instead of 10 (Carrier: 90 days). Sources: Trane, Lennox, Goodman, Rheem, Carrier, verified Oct 20, 2026.
Exceptions: registration can't be required in CA, FL, GA (2026 installs on) or Quebec, and some premium lines (e.g. Lennox Signature) carry 10-year parts without registration. Sources: Goodman, Lennox warranty PDF.

How it works

Three steps, the same every time

The actual workflow, start to finish. Nothing to install.

01

Text the data plate

After the install, your tech texts a photo of the data plate and the homeowner's name and address.

you → me
02

I register it

I fill out and submit the manufacturer's registration well inside the window.

I handle it
03

You get the confirmation

I send you the registration certificate to keep on file or pass to the homeowner.

Data plate to registration

A photo of the data plate is enough. Model and serial are read off the plate and checked before anything is submitted.

Why it's free right now

No cost. I just want your honest take on whether it actually helps day to day, and if it doesn't, that's just as useful to hear.

Who's behind this

Matt Breen

Founder, Unit Register

I'm Matt Breen, and I started Unit Register because warranty registration looked like the step that slips once the tech is on to the next call. It's a new service, and I want a few shops to try it and tell me honestly whether it's worth having.

Why I built this. By day I'm a full-time account executive, and I build things like this at night. Registration is a simple form that matters a lot when a part fails, and it's exactly the kind of task that slips. I wanted to see if handling it for a few shops actually saves them trouble.

FAQ

Straight answers

Who are you?

I'm Matt Breen, the founder. Unit Register is a small, new, independent service that I run myself, from New York. You deal with me directly.

What does it cost?

Your first 10 registrations are free, then simple flat pricing quoted upfront before you commit. No card needed to start.

What do you need from me?

A photo of each unit's data plate, the install date, and the homeowner's name and address, plus the homeowner's OK to register on their behalf.

Do you contact my customers?

I don't call or market to homeowners. Their details are used only on the manufacturer's registration form, and depending on the brand, the manufacturer may email the homeowner its own confirmation.

How do I opt out?

Reply "no" to any email from me and I won't email you again. You can also ask me to delete anything you've sent by writing to matt@unitregister.com, and I will.
